Clay Cooper

President

Clay Cooper joined AirTight FaciliTech as president in 2019 after serving in numerous roles across the HVAC industry for 30+ years. Clay began his career as a sales representative for GW Berkheimer. From there Clay accepted a position in service sales for Trane Chicago. In 1997 he accepted a sales position at York Chicago and within a couple years became its District Service Manager. After York was acquired by Johnson Controls, Clay continued with the company as Service Manager until joining Midwest Mechanical in 2009 as Vice President of Operations where he was responsible for all the day-to-day operations of the service business.

Steve Chiuchiolo

Controller & Administration Manager

Prior to joining ATFT in 2016, Steve Chiuchiolo served for seven years as Corporate Controller and Assistant Treasurer for Iverify, a national company installing, servicing and monitoring commercial security systems. In addition to preparing and presenting financial reports, he managed annual bank and financial audits, treasury activities, ERP system management, internal policy development, business process improvements, client retention, operational improvement and risk control. Steve began his career at BDO Seidman while working with medium-­sized, fast­-growing entrepreneurial companies.

Steve holds a BS in Accounting degree from the State University of New York at Binghamton.

Russ Castilow

VP Of Projects Group

Russ's hometown is Glendale, West Virginia and attended West Liberty University in nearby Wheeling. He then moved to South Carolina where he began his career in sales. Eventually to become branch manager with Julian Speer Mechanical in their branch location in Columbia, SC. There he became entrenched in the mechanical contracting industry learning from two influential mentors Samuel Shuman and Kenneth Wohlfarth. Russ was then recruited by McKenneys Inc. and after 10 years he joined AirTight where he designed, estimated, and sold projects in the mission critical and data center market for the next 13 years. Russ brings 26 years of experience to AirTight FaciliTech, and is currently the Vice President of the projects group. Russ lives in Charlotte with his wife Anna and two dogs Daisy and Neil. In his off time he enjoys traveling, saltwater fishing, tinkering with his Bronco, and spending time with his family and friends.

Denny Baumgart

VP Of Technical Services

Denny graduated from high school in 1974, starting his HVAC experience in trade school in 1972. His experience comes from 42 years of service work including commercial, mission critical sites & industrial support. He began in the industry as a service technician and has been through an extensive amount of factory certification program as well as many Refrigeration Service Engineer Society (RSES) course study programs with years to expand his industry knowledge. In 1999, he was offered the opportunity to start and grow AirTight Inc. with founder Greg Crumpton. After all these years, he and Greg are proud of AirTight and that journey that had taken place. Denny’s current role at AirTight FaciliTech Inc. includes facilitating in-house training for all service technicians and customers. He assists with onsite technical support and is our safety coordinator and trainer as well as responsible for job site quality assurance. His factory certification courses include the following: APC, Stulz, Carrier, Trane, York, Liebert, etc. Denny is fully trained on a wide variety of equipment types ranging from boilers, chillers, APC equipment, Trane Intellipak, etc. Denny’s home life includes a wife of 37 years, 4 children and 5 grandchildren. He and his wife enjoy traveling with an RV and experiencing America. As he looks into the future, he is excited about the journey ahead: being a part of AirTight FaciliTech and an opportunity to go back to school with the idea of building and restoring cars.

Chris Mauro

Business Development Manager - Controls Division

Chris is originally a native of Pennsylvania, where he spent the majority of his childhood. Chris attended UNCC and graduated with a major in Political Science and a minor in Religious Studies. While in college Chris enrolled in a statewide political organization, NCSL, and began to travel to other universities in the state, debating issues and legislation with the best and the brightest from competing schools. Chris made the decision to shift gears and joined the controls and automation industry to begin a new career in a challenging and much more technical market. Chris began his career in controls with ATFT’s sister company, Piedmont Service Group, and later made the decision to come on board to assist with the controls division merger when Airtight and Facilitech were brought together. Chris lives here in Charlotte with his wife Gita and their two children. When he is not at work, he enjoys spending time with his family, is an avid movie fan, and is occasionally known to recapture a bit of his military glory days via the outlet of the Spartan Races held around the area…although he does admit, he doesn’t quite leap over those obstacles like he used to!

Ben Welch

Operations Manager

Ben Welch grew up in the Tidewater, VA area where he graduated from High School and completed a 2yr HVAC Vocational Program. In his 22 years of experience, the past 18 here in Charlotte, NC, he started out as an installation mechanic and quickly moved into the service industry. As he progressed through the light commercial and refrigeration fields he spent the past 14 years focused on large mechanical plants and chillers. His experience has carried him around the world several times working in some of the largest district cooling plants in the world. In addition to being a Lead Service Mechanic for many years, he has held a Service Foreman role, Chiller Technical Team Leader, Safety SME and Service Sales Account Representative. Ben currently leads our Service Operations on a day to day basis ensuring we deliver the best customer experience possible.
